I took a Tiger Airways plane from Singapore to Darwin. I couldn't believe it when I was there... I had just landed in Australia!
This place seems so far from almost wherever you are on earth... and I finally got there.

When I was planning the trip, I didn't think of visiting Australia. I justed wanted to backpack around Asia.
But then I saw a Tiger Airways offer for roughly 100€ return (incl. tax) from Singapore to Darwin... Well, I just managed to add a few days to the trip. Hey, I had never in my life been this close, and I never thought I could get there for this price!

But still there was a problem. South East Asia is very cheap regarding accomodation and food, while Asutralia can be expensive.

I decided to make it as budget as I could: We slept the first 3 nights at the Hidden Valley Tourist Park.

It's a camping place with a few huts and other facilities right outside Darwin.
It's a really nice place so, if you don't mind to stay out of the city and are on a budget, this is the place to go.

Darwin is the laid-back capital of Australia's Northern Territory.
it's a very pleasant city, very relaxed, right by the sea, with lots of trees, big avenues with few cars, a few bars and lots of nice people.

There not any big monuments in Darwin. This city is about nature and is used as a base for the many nearby attractions.
Still, I loved the atmosphere of the place, so I stayed a couple of days there, just wandering around.
