Monday night. Just came back from Frankfurt, where I attended concerts from Iron Maiden and Rush.
And who was in town that night? Roger Waters... Playing one of the best albums of all times! The Wall!

In The Flesh flags

Roger Waters scheduled a total of 4 concerts in Paris this year, and this was the first one.

I got a ticket on the pit, but I couldn't get very close. No worries, iit would be for a next time.

Arriving in Bercy, it was a nice surprise to see half a wall built on the sides of the stage!

Roger Waters and The Wall

Well, at 8:30PM a guy came on stage telling that it was OK to take pictures without flash.

Then the lights were shut down and there was a speech, while two guys dressed in a military costume were holding a doll of Pink, the main character of The Wall.

As they let him fall, the first song started! In The Flesh? ! The band started to play as some guys dressed as militaries were brought up in a platform, while waving the 2 Hammer flag.

Big Mother is watching You

Everything was perfect and calculated. The sound was mind-blowing, the lights were perfect, and they included of course the circle in the background, typical from Pink Floyd and Roger Water shows.

The setlist was the whole The Wall album, with a 20 inute interlude corresponding to the two discs.

Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone!

Other effects included some giant puppets like the schoolmaster during Another Brick In The Wall Part II, Pink's mother during Mother, and a short appearance of the Praying Mantis "wife" during Don't Leave Me Now.

The Wall is being built during the first part of the show, brick by brick, until Goodbye Cruel World, when the last brick hides Roger Waters and whole band stands behind this huge structure.

The Praying Mantis girl - Roger Waters live in Paris

Roger Waters adressed the audience 3 times, and he tried his best to do it in French.

The first one was to welcome everyone to the show while introducing Mother.

The second was before Run Like Hell.

Finally, he thanked the audience and introduced his band while they played Outside The Wall.

Roger Waters The Wall Live

There were so many emotional moments, like Nobody Home, Bring The Boys back Home or Comfortably Numb.

The tension rises and Roger asks who is paranoid, right before Run Like Hell.

After a projection of The Trial, on which Roger Waters does the voices of all characters, the wall falls suddenly.

The whole band comes then to play Outside The Wall to an astonished audience.

The following night Roger Waters was again in town. More details on the concert on this review, with details on what happens in every song! Click here to read it.
