Mille Petrozza and his Metal Horns at the Thrashfest in Paris, France

2010 was a thrash year!

In summer, for the first time, there were the so called “Big Four” playing together: Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica.

In winter, we had the ThrashFest, with Suicidal Angels, Death Angel, Exodus and Kreator.

Kreator used a Johnny Cash song as intro: The Man Comes Around, before coming on stage with their already classic Violent Revolution!

Once again, the audience became mad. Paris is conquered territory for Kreator.
The band has a lot of fans there, who are present every time they play.

As the headliners of the Thrashfest, Kreator were the only band to use the full production: They used the full stage, with an elevated platform on each side of Ventor’s drum.

Thus, Mille Petrozza could sing from 3 spots, the center, plus the left and right sides on the rear.
This gave the impression of a bigger stage.

Kreator were also the only to use the whole light show, which was great.

They also had a giant screen on the back, which displayed during most of the time images from the audience at the Elysée Montmartre, capted from a camera on Mille's microphone (see picture o the left).

Sometimes it displayed images according to the songs, including some old Kreator pictures and the covers of all the previous albums during the song Tormentor.

So Mille kept moving around the stage, singing from 3 different spots or headbanging while he played his incredible fast rhythm parts or his solos.

He talked a lot to the audience as a very charismatic singer. While starting the songs, he counted to four in German: "Ein, Zwei, Drei, Vier!" before a new song or a fast part starts.

Kreator's line-up has been stable for years, and it's very solid.
Ventor is still one of the fastest drummers around, but also a very inventive one: he doesn’t play always the same parts.

Christian Giesler headbangs while playing his V-bass guitar. He's fast, precise, and actually impressive to see!

Sami Yli-Sirniö headbanging with Kreator live at the Thrashfest

Sami Yli-Sirniö, the only non German band member, is a great asset of Kreator.

He's not the new guy anymore, Sami has been in the band for almost a decade now, and his style fits perfectly the band, with tortured solos and fast rythms.

Kreator’s he Kreator's setlist was well balanced between classics and recent songs.
Just like for Death Angel and Exodus, the latest Kreator albums are very high quality records, and it’s a pleasure to hear those tunes live.

The played a very fast version of Hordes Of Chaos and an unforgettable Destroy what Destroys you.
Another great moment was Voices Of The Dead.

Mille Petrozza and Venntor - Kreator headlining the Thrashfest

Mille Petrozza stressed that this was one of the best tours Kreator has ever had, and he had really enjoyed it.
I believe him, I’ve seen Kreator on different tours with other bands but this team was really special.

He said “We brought you Suicidal Angels, we brought you Death Angel, we brought you the might Exodus… and last but not least, your favourite German band: Kreator!”

Mille stated that he doesn’t care if bands and fans young or old, what matters is that we were celebrating 3 generations of Thrash Metal fans! He’s totally right!

Mille asked us if we were ready to kill right before playing Pleasure To Kill.
The audience was unchained, just like when he asked to do a f**kin’ French-style moshpit during Destroyer, a wish that the first rows were glad to execute.

Mille Petrozza - Kreator live in Paris

Before playing Flag Of Hate, Mille announced that in the summer of 2009 they started to write new material for an upcoming album!
No new song was played, but I’m sure they’ll meet Kreator’s quality standards.
This also means that probably next year there will be a new tour, and I’m sure Kreator will keep doing concerts as good as this one!
